{"id":275,"date":"2020-05-19T12:19:31","date_gmt":"2020-05-19T09:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/?page_id=275"},"modified":"2026-02-03T12:16:51","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T10:16:51","slug":"tapeouts-at-bar-ilan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/tapeouts-at-bar-ilan\/","title":{"rendered":"Tapeouts at Bar-Ilan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Since arriving at Bar Ilan, Prof. Shor has trained students and developed infrastructure to enable Silicon Tapeouts which include analog and digital circuits.&nbsp; Typically, the training a student requires from the time he\/she enters analog till a successful tapeout takes 3 years.&nbsp; Below is a list of the tapeouts which have been and are being implemented.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Pathfinder<\/strong> (May, 2017 \u2013 65nm TSMC) \u2013 This was the first BIU analog tapeout. It included thermal sensors, as well as PUF circuits.&nbsp; The circuits exhibited excellent functionality and have generated publications in JSSC, TCAS1, TCAS2, SSCL, and ESSCIRC.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture1.png\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-677 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture1.png\" alt=\"Pathfinder\" width=\"266\" height=\"139\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Pathfinder2 <\/strong>(May 2018 \u2013 65nm TSMC) \u2013 This follow-up tapeout included several new PUF circuits, all of which functioned well in Silicon. Papers were published in TCAS1, IEEE Access, OJCAS, CICC 2019, and ISCAS 2019.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture2.jpg\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-691 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture2-300x152.jpg\" alt=\"Pathfinder2\" width=\"300\" height=\"152\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Genesis <\/strong>(May 2019 \u2013 65nm TSMC) \u2013 This tapeout included PUFs, a Process Monitor and an ultra-low power bandgap reference.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture3.png\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-690 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture3.png\" alt=\"Genesis\" width=\"120\" height=\"119\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>SOC2 (<\/strong>June 2019 \u2013 16nm TSMC<strong>) <\/strong>\u2013 Shor\u2019s group participated in this tapeout of the Hiper Consortium and the contribution include an ultra-small, ultra-fast thermal sensor for thermal monitoring of the SOC. A paper was published in TVLSI.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture4.png\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-689 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture4.png\" alt=\"SOC2\" width=\"208\" height=\"205\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Genesis2 (Aug 2019 \u2013 65nm TSMC) <\/strong>\u2013 Circuits included a Ring-Oscillator based sensor, a mobility monitor and a Low Voltage Power-On-Reset Circuit. Papers were published in SSCL, ESSCIRC, TCAS2, OJCAS and IEEE Access.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture5.png\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-688 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eng.biu.ac.il\/shorjos\/files\/2024\/05\/Picture5.png\" alt=\"Genesis2\" width=\"131\" height=\"130\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Snir (Feb 2020, 65nm TSMC)<\/strong> \u2013 This chip contains an LDO, a Process Monitor, a Noise modeling circuit, two different Droop detector circuits, a Dual Mode Logic block (with Alex Fish group), and a Switch-capacitor DC-DC converter.
